What are Social Services?

Social services are services provided by a combination of state and private organizations for members of the community, including education, housing, health, individual and family support, and child welfare.

One branch of social services is personal social services which provide services for individuals, families or households and groups, such as counselling, advocacy and mediation.

Income security or social security: Assistance to those who are lacking in economic security or income.
