National Health Expenditures

National health expenditures increased by 1.2% in 1996. Health expenditures were $75.2 B. or 9.5% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 1996. In real per capita terms, a decrease of 0.6% was recorded in 1996 which is the fourth consecutive year that real per capita health spending has declined.
