This web site is free for educational purposes. It will provide
learners an opportunity to learn about Canada's unique history
of social welfare and social work.
The web site contains hundreds of pages of text,
12 audio lectures, videos, and photographs.
By going through the site I hope you become
familiar with the major concepts in social
welfare and begin to do your own analysis of
social welfare and social work issues - what they are,
where they come from, how they work and why they work
the way they do.
You will need a sound card in order to hear the audio
sections of the material. The audio and illustrated audio
requires that you install the Microsoft NetShow software on
your computer. This is a very small application and is the
only one you will need to use the entire web site. The
learning material frequently uses illustrated audio as
a learning tool. This web technology displays synchronizes
images with audio files. I have found that it is a very
effective learning tool.
